BioBeat’s publication 50 Movers and Shakers in BioBusiness 2018 emphasises the role of women leading, inspiring and supporting innovation to ensure that new technologies and treatments continue to improve UK research, health and society.
This year’s report identifies 50 women in the UK who are shaking up the translation of biotech research.
Joyce Tait’s research into regulatory frameworks that support more appropriate and adaptive governance of innovative technologies is contributing to drive new government initiatives that promote investment and maximise the economic and societal benefits of technological advances.
“It is excellent to see this celebration of women’s contributions to biobusiness. Hopefully it is a step towards a time when such a separation on gender grounds is no longer necessary”, said Prof. Joyce Tait, Innogen Institute co-director, the University of Edinburgh.
BioBeat also hosts an annual autumn summit that brings together pioneers in biotech to nurture innovation and new partnerships. This year’s event entitled “Disrupting biodata healthcare” will take place at the Wellcome Genome Campus, in Cambridge on the 15th November, will explore opportunities for disrupting the healthcare industry and constructing sustainable business models with biodata.
